Kim Moon-soo, the People Power Party presidential candidate, submitted a request for an injunction to recognize the status of presidential candidate to the court on the 8th. This is because the People Power Party should not grant presidential candidate status to a third party.

The submission of Kim's injunction request was revealed during the hearing of the 'request for an injunction to prohibit the congress' held at the Seoul Southern District Court that day. This is a separate application from the 'request for an injunction to prohibit the congress' filed by seven non-constituent party chairpersons supporting candidate Kim Moon-soo on the 7th.

Earlier, the People Power Party leadership announced the convening of the national committee on the 8th or 9th and the congress on the 10th or 11th. This is interpreted as a cornerstone for unification between candidate Kim and independent candidate Han Duck-soo.

In court that day, Kim's side said, "The purpose of the congress and national committee is formally to unify with candidate Han, but in reality, it is to strip candidate Kim of his status by the party leadership." They claimed that the party did not follow the procedures such as delegate qualifications while announcing the congress and argued that the agenda submitted to the national committee was related to the change of the presidential candidate, which is against the party's constitution and regulations.

On the other hand, the People Power Party side stated, "From the early stages of the primary, Kim's side said several times they would actively unify with candidate Han and gained support for being elected as the final candidate. Therefore, they should have immediately proceeded with the unification process, but they did not." They also noted, "The party leadership has no intention to force unification with candidate Han; this is entirely the subjective suspicion of the applicant (candidate Kim)." They argued that the procedures were also lawful in accordance with the party's constitution and regulations.
