Chairperson Kwon Young-se, of the People Power Party, noted on the 8th, "We must achieve unification within two days to create a drama of reversal," and stated that they would proceed with the party-led candidate unification roadmap as planned.
To complete the unification of party presidential candidate Kim Moon-soo and independent preliminary candidate Han Duck-soo before the candidate registration deadline on the 11th, it plans to conduct a preference survey for a unified candidate over the next two days.
At a meeting of the emergency committee held at the National Assembly, Chairperson Kwon stated, "From today, the party-led unification process begins," and added that he had suggested a televised debate and public opinion survey to the two candidates, noting that even if the debate does not happen, the opinion survey would go ahead as scheduled.
He continued, "I will take all responsibility for this decision, as the emergency committee chairperson, and if I can prevent the dictatorship of Lee Jae-myung, I will bear any criticism or responsibility."
Chairperson Kwon specifically pointed out, "Unification is a promise from candidate Kim," and questioned why candidate Kim, who had promised to meet with the unified candidate immediately upon becoming a candidate, suddenly changed his attitude, stating that many are perplexed.
