Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party of Korea presidential candidate, met with former People Power Party Chairperson Kim Jong-in for lunch on the 8th. Following the recruitment of Yoon Yeo-jun, a former Minister of Environment known as the 'conservative strategist,' this meeting also sought political advice from Kim, who is referred to as a 'kingmaker' in both progressive and conservative circles. This is part of the strategy for Lee's declared expansion into the 'centrist conservative' base.

According to the Democratic Party, Lee met with Kim, the former Chairperson, at a location in Seoul and expressed a desire to seek advice on how South Korea can take the right path, while also asking for opinions on various political issues. In response, Kim remarked, 'It is important to reassure the people,' advising him to 'prepare well' for the presidential election.

Earlier, the two shared a dinner in September of last year when Lee was the party leader, discussing state affairs. Recently, the Democratic Party has recruited conservatives including former Minister Yoon, former Legislation Office Director Lee Seok-yeon, and former lawmaker Lee In-ki. A party official noted, 'This was a meeting where Lee sought the advice of seniors across the political spectrum,' adding, 'The lunch took place after a proposal was made by the party.'
