On the morning of the same day, Kim held an emergency press conference at the campaign office in Yeouido, Seoul, and said, "I will not participate in debates unilaterally determined by the party without the candidate's consent," while also noting, "I will continue to make earnest efforts to reach an agreement with Han Duck-soo to 'save the country' after this time."

He said, "I am truly ashamed. I will win the presidential election for the future generations who will live in this country. I will do everything I can to prevent this situation," and added, "I, Kim Moon-soo, am a just and fair presidential candidate. I am a candidate who knows how to fight. I will surely win."
