On the 7th, the committee chairs outside the National Assembly supporting People Power Party candidate Kim Moon-soo filed an application for a 'provisional injunction against the holding' with the court regarding the nationwide chairman Lee Heon-seung's announcement of the 6th party convention.
Seven committee chairs outside the National Assembly supporting candidate Kim filed a petition with the Seoul Southern District Court, claiming that the People Power Party's decision to convene the party convention was illegal and requesting that it be prohibited from taking place.
They criticized the People Power Party leadership, stating in a statement on the same day, "Recently, the behavior of the People Power Party leadership has revealed a threat to democratic legitimacy and the candidate's status. This is a serious violation of the party's principles and processes of democratic operation, and it cannot be tolerated."
They asserted, "We strongly condemn the leadership's such behavior and demand an immediate halt, stating that the decision on unification should be left entirely to the voluntary negotiations and judgments between candidate Kim and Han Duck-soo."
They stated, "We have applied to the court for a provisional injunction to immediately halt the convening of the national committee and the party convention, which clearly violate procedural legitimacy and democratic principles, and which were unreasonably convened," and urged the court for a strict judgment.
Earlier, Kim's camp had publicly demanded an explanation of the background, suggesting that the party leadership's unilateral notice of the convention and nationwide committee meeting without informing the agenda seemed to be intended for changing candidates.
