Kweon Seong-dong, the People Power Party floor leader, noted on the 6th that regarding the meeting scheduled for 6 p.m. on the 7th between Kim Moon-soo, the party's presidential candidate, and independent preliminary candidate Han Duck-soo, "I expect a specific roadmap to be presented so that a unification can be achieved in the near future, before the presidential candidate registration period."
Floor leader Kweon said on this day, during a meeting with reporters in front of candidate Kim's house located in Gwanak-gu, that the meeting between the two was "a bit late, but truly a good decision."
Regarding candidate Kim's warning in a statement that "the party leadership should no longer intervene in the unification," he said, "Would the party have wanted to lead the candidate unification? Since the unification effort had been sluggish, and because it is urgent to complete the unification before the candidate registration, the party inevitably intervened and led the way, requesting unification from a desperate situation."
In response to the demand from candidate Kim to suspend the opinion poll on unification for party members, he replied, "It would be nice if we could reach an agreement on unification tomorrow, but in case that does not happen, it is necessary to confirm where the party members stand for the management of the party," adding, "I will proceed as is."
After the congressional meeting on that evening, Floor Leader Kweon and lawmakers Kim Gi-hyun and Park Deok-heum went to visit candidate Kim at his residence, but the lights were off at the house. They waited in front of the apartment for about 30 minutes but ultimately left without meeting candidate Kim. Candidate Kim did not answer Floor Leader Kweon's call.
