The leadership of the People Power Party, which is experiencing difficulties regarding the 'Han Duck-soo unification' issue with presidential candidate Kim Moon-soo, decided on the 6th not to contact Kim's camp for the time being. Instead, they plan to hold a general meeting again on the 7th and request Kim's camp to attend.

The People Power Party held an emergency late-night general meeting at 8 p.m. that day to continue discussions related to unification; however, the party leadership ultimately decided not to pursue a meeting with Kim that night.

Park Hyung-soo, the floor leader, met with reporters after the general meeting and noted that there were opinions suggesting that party leader Kwon Young-se and floor leader Kweon Seong-dong should go back to persuade Kim. However, he added that it would be inappropriate to pressure Kim too much, so they ultimately decided not to visit him today.

Earlier, the party leadership traveled to Daejeon that afternoon to meet candidate Kim, who was visiting Daegu and Gyeongbuk, but had to turn back when Kim stated that he would suspend the primary schedule and return to Seoul.

Park, the floor leader, said, "During the general meeting, we conveyed to Kim's camp that we would like him to attend the meeting," adding, "However, he did not attend." He further mentioned, "We plan to request formally tomorrow and hold the meeting at a time convenient for Kim."

Regarding the unification vote, he stated that "the results are expected to come out after 9 p.m. tomorrow" and that "it will be conducted from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and whether the results will be announced immediately will be decided by the party leadership in discussion.

The unification vote conducted for all members of the People Power Party will reportedly ask whether they are in favor or against unification (support) and whether the unification would occur before the candidate registration with the National Election Commission (timing).

Some predict that internal conflicts within the party could escalate further depending on the voting results.

In fact, there have been public mentions of candidate replacement within the party.

Yoon Hee-sook, the head of the Yeouido Institute, wrote on social media, "Changing your words in politics is sufficient with Lee Jae-myung," and added, "If there is no intent to unify, you should step down from the candidacy."
