In a survey of candidate suitability for the single candidate of the conservative camp ahead of the 6.3 early presidential election, independent candidate Han Duck-soo topped the poll with 30.0%, surpassing People Power Party candidate Kim Moon-soo (21.9%) by 8.1 percentage points.
On the 5th, Realmeter conducted a survey at the request of the Energy Economy Newspaper from April 30 to May 2, targeting 1,509 voters aged 18 and over nationwide, with a confidence level of 95% and a margin of error of ±2.5 percentage points. The results indicated that Han was leading Kim within the margin of error.
Realmeter asked, 'If Han and Kim were to unify the conservatives, who do you think would be the best to emerge as the final conservative candidate?' While 40.2% answered 'none', 8.0% said 'don't know.'
When limited to supporters of the People Power Party and undecided voters, Han recorded 49.7%, more than doubling Kim's 24.2%.
However, with the rate of undecided responses remaining high, Realmeter analyzed that the method of unification and Han's potential admission into the People Power Party will serve as critical variables in the presidential election landscape.
This survey was conducted before Kim was selected as the final candidate by defeating former People Power Party leader Han Dong-hoon in the party's final primary on the 3rd. The survey was conducted using a fully automated (100%) response method. For more details, refer to the website of the Central Election Survey Deliberation Committee.
