Independent Han Duck-soo, a preliminary candidate for the presidential election, reportedly sent a consolation message to Han Dong-hoon, who lost in the final primary of the People Power Party.
A source from Han Duck-soo's campaign said, “The day before (after the final candidate announcement), a message was sent to Han Dong-hoon saying, 'You've worked hard until now. Let's meet,'” and noted, “The message was sent because the currency connection could not be established.”
Han Duck-soo is expected to request former representative Han Dong-hoon, who was appointed chair of the People Power Party's election campaign committee the previous day, to focus on his key pledge of "constitutional amendment solidarity" in the future.
Earlier, former representative Han Dong-hoon lost to Kim Moon-soo, who recorded 56.53% of the votes, with Han Dong-hoon receiving 43.47% at the People Power Party's convention to select its presidential candidate, held the previous day at KINTEX in Goyang.
Kim appointed former representative Han Dong-hoon as a campaign committee chair; however, the former representative's side did not attend Kim's first engagement at the national cemetery on that day. The former representative's side reportedly stated that there had been no prior discussions regarding the appointment.
