Independent presidential candidate Han Duck-soo noted on the 4th, “If the Democratic Party of Korea pushes for the impeachment of the Chief Justice, it would be an unconstitutional act.”
On the same day, Han granted an interview on Channel A's ‘News A,’ stating, “It is an act that destroys the liberal democracy that has supported our country and allowed the people to live happily until now.”
Han added, “The judges who make up the Supreme Court are truly individuals who dedicate themselves to serving the country and the people,” and he expressed his firm belief that “They have not done anything that warrants impeachment.”
In response to the host's question on how he evaluates Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party of Korea presidential candidate, Han said, “I do not wish to mention specific politicians,” but he emphasized that “The virtue a politician must have is knowing that they cannot stand above the law.”
When asked if he would be willing to accept unfavorable conditions proposed by Kim Moon-soo, the presidential candidate elected by the People Power Party, Han replied, “There are no conditions for the unification talks,” asserting, “I will accept everything unconditionally.”
Responding to the criticism that he has 'no experience in politics in Yeouido,' Han said, “I may be a novice in traditional politics, but I have been watching for over 50 years which political path makes our people happier and strengthens the nation,” adding, “It is not a completely unfamiliar area.”
When asked whether he could keep the pledge to ‘reduce the presidential term by three years,’ Han stated, “I will definitely keep it,” adding, “I have seen too many times where a major reform, including constitutional amendments, gets sidelined when the circumstances change or problems arise in the pursuit of power,” and he assured, “I will never let that happen.”
Regarding the possibility of joining the People Power Party, Han stated, “The priority is to gather opinions on the constitutional amendments and the important tasks we need to undertake.” In response to questions about reforming the People Power Party, including changing its name, he answered, “All issues can be discussed and negotiated.”
When questioned about whether he had communicated with former President Yoon Suk-yeol regarding his candidacy for the presidential election, Han said, “This is purely my personal judgment,” stating, “I have decided that this is what I must do as my final service to our country and people.”
