Kim Moon-soo, a candidate in the People Power Party's presidential primary, noted on the 4th regarding the timing of the unification with former Prime Minister Han Duck-soo, saying, “There are many discussions about not being too late, so I will take that into account as much as possible.”
When asked about the 'deadline for the unification timing' after visiting a community center for the elderly in Hansem Village in Pocheon, Gyeonggi Province, Kim said, “There are various interpretations about that.”
The People Power Party believes that to maximize the effect of unification, the unification negotiations must be wrapped up by the 7th. This is because it requires physical time for printing party publications and preparing campaign vehicles. Within the party, it is viewed that unification must be completed by the 11th, the deadline for registering presidential candidates.
Kim also stated regarding the operational head of the 'unification promotion organization' with former Prime Minister Han, which he is expected to launch, that “Nothing has been decided. We will continue to discuss it.”
Kim hinted that he is open to the 'one-shot primary' method, which includes former Prime Minister Han as well as Lee Jun-seok, the candidate for the Reform Party. In response to related inquiries, he said, “I think it is desirable for as many people as possible to participate.”
Regarding Ahn Cheol-soo, who has been appointed as co-chairman of the election committee, demanding a public apology regarding the 12·3 martial law incident and impeachment, he said, “I will make sure to gather opinions appropriately with Ahn at the right time.”
