Ahn Cheol-soo, who became co-chair of the People Power Party's election campaign committee, officially requested on the 4th that Kim Moon-soo, the presidential candidate, publicly apologize to the nation for the 12·3 martial law situation and impeachment.
On that morning, Ahn wrote on Facebook, urging candidate Kim to "apologize to the public for the martial law and impeachment."
He said, "To open our children's future and to stop the era of Lee Jae-myung, we must together cross the 'river of martial law and impeachment.' The emergency martial law of former President Yoon Suk-yeol left an indelible deep scar on the people. A responsible politician who has served as a government minister should apologize to the public. That is the first justification for stopping Lee Jae-myung," adding, "Only by crossing the 'river of martial law and impeachment' can the path to victory be opened."
He also requested, "If elected president, I would like to shorten the term to three years and push for next year's local elections alongside a constitutional referendum." Ahn noted, "Constitutional amendment is a historical task that the next president must achieve," stating, "Delaying the constitutional amendment any longer is a sin before history."
He urged former President Yoon to make the decision to leave the party. Ahn said, "Lee Jae-myung's goal is to run this election as Yoon Suk-yeol vs. Lee Jae-myung. Please create a justification that can reduce the political burden on candidate Kim Moon-soo and allow us to defeat the criminal suspect Lee Jae-myung," adding, "A president’s departure from the party will prevent Lee Jae-myung's rise to power and serve as a springboard for the normalization of democracy in Korea."
