The candidate met with reporters shortly after being elected as the party's presidential candidate with 56.53% of the votes at the 5·3 National Convention held in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, that afternoon.

He also revealed that he had a currency conversation with the former Prime Minister, saying, "The Prime Minister just called me and offered various congratulations and encouragement," and added, "I am personally close to the Prime Minister."

Regarding the specific method of unification with the former Prime Minister, the candidate said, "It's a bit inappropriate to discuss how we will unify immediately after being elected today," and added, "I will take a breath and respond."
