Democratic Party of Korea presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung said on the 3rd that the election of Kim Moon-soo as the People Power Party presidential candidate is "going against the restoration of constitutional order," adding, "In the end, the public will evaluate and judge it all."
The candidate made this remark while meeting with reporters in Samcheok, Gangwon Province, that afternoon.
The candidate stated, "As I have mentioned, the current top priority task for South Korea is to hold accountable the forces that destroy the Constitution and restore constitutional order," adding, "I feel like we are going completely in the opposite direction, which is disappointing."
The candidate referred to Kim's comment about uniting with all forces to prevent the Democratic Party from coming to power right after Kim was elected, including a potential alliance with former Prime Minister Han Duck-soo, saying, "Isn’t it predictable that anti-constitutional forces are uniting?" He continued, "However, I wonder how the public will evaluate the forces that are indeed destroying this country's constitutional order if they reflect on it themselves."
Earlier, candidate Kim Moon-soo recorded 56.53% of the votes in the People's Power Party's 5th national convention held that afternoon at KINTEX in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, surpassing Han Dong-hoon (43.47%) to be elected as the presidential candidate.
