Independent presidential candidate Han Duck-soo said on the 3rd, “If I return to the government, I will work with the people to ensure we achieve constitutional amendment and will resign immediately.”
Candidate Han stated during a visit to the former lawmakers' group, the Constitutional Society, that, “I believe there will be a stern judgment from our citizens against those opposing constitutional amendment.”
Candidate Han claimed, “Those who crave power cannot amend the constitution. The problem is that there are political factions that seem to agree to the amendment for political purposes but then change their words,” targeting Lee Jae-myung, the presidential candidate from the Democratic Party of Korea.
He emphasized, “In other matters, it’s acceptable to change one’s words, but when it comes to the will to amend the constitution or the content of the amendment, changing one’s words overnight constitutes a serious crime against the people.”
The candidate mentioned regarding the so-called 'anti-Lee Jae-myung big tent,' “Why should we set up a big tent for a specific person?” and added, “What we need to do is create a big tent that can amend the constitution that does not align with the spirit of the times.”
He further stated, “If everything goes well, I will immediately establish a support organization for constitutional amendment under the president's direct control on the first day of the new government.”
