People Power Party candidate Kim Moon-soo will visit the National Cemetery as his first official activity. He is also scheduled to visit a village where Hansen's disease patients live and a local market.
On the morning of the 4th, candidate Kim will visit the National Cemetery in Dongjak-gu, Seoul, to pay respects at the graves of former Presidents Syngman Rhee, Park Chung-hee, Kim Young-sam, and Kim Dae-jung. In particular, it is interpreted as an attempt to convey a unified message through the visit to the grave of former President Kim Dae-jung. After declaring his candidacy for the presidential election on the 9th of last month, he also visited the National Cemetery as his first schedule to pay respects at the graves of all former presidents.
After paying respects at the cemetery, candidate Kim will attend the party's emergency committee meeting to meet with Chairman Kwon Young-se and Floor Leader Kweon Seong-dong, among other leaders. It is expected that they will discuss future electoral strategies, including the consolidation with independent candidate Han Duck-soo.
In the afternoon, he will visit Jangja Village in Pocheon City, where Hansen's disease patients live, and the First Market in Uijeongbu. This visit carries the meaning of emphasizing welfare for the vulnerable and revitalizing the economy, which Kim has been highlighting. Jangja Village is also a place where candidate Kim has regularly met with residents since 2008, when he served as the governor of Gyeonggi Province.
In his acceptance speech on the 3rd, candidate Kim stated, “I will create a Korea that is good for corporations. I will establish a government that warmly cares for the economically vulnerable.”
