Park Jin-Young, former deputy director of the Democratic Party of Korea's official think tank, the Institute for Democratic Research, said regarding the Supreme Court's decision to quash the verdict in the public election law case involving Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party of Korea's presidential candidate, "Isn’t it time to end the separation of powers?"

On the 1st, Park Jin-Young appeared on CBS's YouTube program "The Locker Room" and said, "The executive and legislative branches are elected powers. The judiciary is not elected. Therefore, a more republican and careful consensus process should be required," adding, "They (the judiciary) made a partisan decision like the National Assembly. If that’s the case, why do we need the judiciary?"

He stated, "It seems like it’s time to return from the appointed judiciary to an elected judiciary," and added, "The judiciary has become this way thanks to Yoon Suk-yeol (former president)."

Park Jin-Young claimed, "The idea that this extreme approach to filling judicial positions represents responsible politics is what led to appointing such individuals as Supreme Court justices." He continued, "In my view, all those people are unqualified to be Supreme Court justices," and stated, "These judicial individuals are ruining South Korea."

He questioned, "Should we abolish the judiciary, or should the people become the owners of the judiciary?" and remarked, "It seems like it’s time to consider these issues faster than Western democracies."
