Kweon Seong-dong, the floor leader of the People Power Party, noted on the 1st that the Democratic Party of Korea is pushing for the impeachment of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Choi Sang-mok, stating, "It seems that they convened the judicial committee out of frustration after the Supreme Court's ruling regarding the Election Act case of candidate Lee Jae-myung."

The floor leader remarked to reporters at the National Assembly that it is like 'getting slapped in Jongno and then glaring at the Han River.'

He said, "Is there any evidence that Deputy Prime Minister Choi was involved or intervened in the overturning regarding candidate Lee? I cannot understand what the reason is for wanting to impeach him."

The floor leader also mentioned that the Democratic Party of Korea has sought to initiate impeachment proceedings against ministers and others 30 times since the Yoon Suk-yeol administration, calling it "neighborhood thug politics and scoundrel politics," and added, "Prime Minister Han Duck-soo should resign, as the livelihood is difficult, the economy is tough, and we need to engage in trade negotiations with the United States; what benefit will the Republic of Korea and its people gain from impeaching the Deputy Prime Minister who is the economic commander?"

He further asserted regarding National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-shik that "if he agrees to the (impeachment motion), he is nothing but a lackey of the Democratic Party, and impeaching Deputy Prime Minister Choi will not save candidate Lee."
