The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs announced on the 1st that it will strengthen joint inspections for violations of the Livestock Products Traceability Act from 2 times a year to 4 times.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs is conducting inspections of the livestock traceability system to ensure the public's right to know and enhance the transparency of livestock product distribution. If the origin is deceived or the traceability number is falsely reported, it will be caught in the inspections.
If a business operator violates more than twice a year and receives fines or penalties, they are required to publicly announce the violation for 12 months from the date the penalty is finalized, according to Article 35 of the Livestock Products Traceability Act.
Currently, a total of 31 companies, including Seo Chang-won Nonghyup Hanaro Mart and Hongcheon Livestock Cooperative Hanaro Mart Galma-ro branch, have been caught and the results of the penalties are publicly announced.
Jeon Ik-sung, team leader of the livestock distribution team at the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, said, “We plan to continue conducting joint inspections in cooperation with related ministries so that the public can consume safe and reliable livestock products.”
