Kim Moon-soo, a candidate in the People Power Party's presidential primary, said on the 30th, 'I believe that I will probably become the candidate of the People Power Party,' and noted that he will initiate unification negotiations with Acting Prime Minister Han Duck-soo immediately after being elected as the final candidate.
Ahead of the final round on that day, candidate Kim responded with an 'O' sign when asked during the third primary debate hosted by TV Chosun whether the unification with Acting President Han Duck-soo should happen right after the party convention.
Candidate Kim said, 'We cannot discuss unification before our party's candidate is selected,' and added, 'After the final candidate is elected, we will definitely unify with Han in a way that is reasonable in the eyes of the public, without delay.'
He also noted, 'In order to win against the anti-Lee Jae-myung front, we need to unify with anyone, and I will set up a big tent for the anti-Lee Jae-myung front.'
In contrast, candidate Han did not choose either the 'O' or 'X' signs. He said, 'Right now, discussing unification with anyone is not respectful to the party members and does not help our victory.' He added, 'After becoming the candidate, I will cooperate with anyone in any way for our victory. However, this is not the stage to discuss it now.'
Both candidates held up 'O' signs in response to the OX question, 'Is Lee Jun-seok a plus for the People Power Party?'
Candidate Kim stated, 'Lee Jun-seok is a representative of our party and a protégé of Park Geun-hye,' and emphasized, 'To stop the dictatorship of Lee Jae-myung and the Democratic Party, we must all unite and set up a big tent, which has no limitations.'
Candidate Han also said, 'I believe we must unite with everyone, and no one can be an exception,' adding, 'The core of the conservative forces is the People Power Party. I will lead everyone opposing candidate Lee Jae-myung to the path of victory.'
