On the 30th (local time), the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy welcomed the decision of the Czech government to finally select Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power as the new nuclear power plant operator for a project estimated to cost 26 trillion won.
The ministry noted in a reference that it welcomes the Czech government's official announcement of May 7 as the date for the contract signing of the new nuclear power plant construction project, stating that both countries are discussing plans for the contract signing ceremony and will do their best to ensure a successful event.
On the same day, the Czech government held a cabinet meeting to approve the budget for nuclear power plant construction and announced plans to sign a contract with KHNP on the 7th of next month.
