Former Prime Minister Kim Boo-kyum has joined the campaign committee of Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party of Korea presidential candidate.

A spokesperson for Kim said on the 29th, “Former Prime Minister Kim will participate in the Democratic Party campaign committee as the general campaign chair.”

Kim, who served as the last Prime Minister under the Moon Jae-in administration, has been regarded as a potential presidential candidate from the pro-democracy camp opposed to Lee Jae-myung.

However, when the Democratic Party did not accept the open primary (100% public opinion survey) method during the process of determining the presidential primary rules, he announced on the 9th that he would not run for the 21st presidential election.

In the political arena, Kim's joining is seen as likely to strengthen Lee's unifying efforts.
