Chung Dae-chul, chairman of the Republic of Korea Constitutional Association, noted on the 29th regarding Han Duck-soo, the acting president and prime minister whose candidacy for the presidential election is said to be imminent, that it is "what the people have called for" and that "there is a mood that makes it impossible not to run."

During MBC Radio's "Kim Jong-bae’s Attention", Chung said, "At first, it seems like he was a bit hesitant, but it seems he is making up his mind." When asked if he had discussed the presidential candidacy directly with Han, Chung replied, "Not at all" and added, "I see he has firmed up his resolve through newspapers and broadcasting media, and I think him coming to see me is just a (candidacy) announcement of sorts."

He continued, "He said he would come to see me early in the week, but he hasn't fixed a date yet," although he explained, "We are close, so if he says he will come in a few hours, he can come."

Regarding media reports that Kwon Young-se, chairman of the emergency response committee, called Chung before meeting with Han and asked him to "create a unification," Chung said, "I heard comments like, 'Please give me some advice,' and 'Tell him to make up his mind,' but I have never heard him say, 'Please create (the unification)."

Chung stated, "As the chairman of the Constitutional Association, I can give advice, but I am not in a position to be on one side or the other, and I have no intention of doing so," adding, "I could say the same thing if candidate Lee Jae-myung came."

He analyzed regarding the unification scenario between Han and the People Power Party candidate, saying, "I think we should frame it like Roh Moo-hyun and Chung Mong-joon" and that, "If we are going to do it, we should include candidate Lee Jun-seok for greater synergy."

Regarding Lee Nak-yon, a senior advisor of the New Future Democratic Party, who is reported to be preparing to announce his candidacy, he said, "I heard directly that if a big tent is set up outside, he would be happy to help."
