People Power Party's Kweon Seong-dong, the floor leader, noted on the 28th, "The People Power Party will unite with all patriotic and democratic forces opposing Lee Jae-myung centered around the presidential candidate."
Kweon, the floor leader, said during an emergency countermeasure committee meeting held at the National Assembly that "we will judge the Lee Jae-myung forces that will lead South Korea to division and ruin."
He stated, "Our fierce primary is evidence that democracy within the party is alive," adding, "We will create a South Korea of stability and unity, a South Korea of growth and harmony."
He also pointed out that "the voter turnout nearing 90% aimed at the candidate has never been seen even in the ‘Kim era’ and is a voter turnout that can be seen in the Workers' Party of Korea," noting that "this is not a primary but a rectorship ceremony."
The floor leader further stated, "Although the candidate boasted about an overwhelming victory, this is merely the result of the Democratic Party's dictatorial regime over the past three years," adding, "Since the candidate entered the National Assembly by taking over the constituency of the previous party leader, all the Democratic Party has done is purge and retaliate."
He also mentioned the fact that Lee Nak-yon, a former prime minister who had competed against the candidate within the party, had defected, stating, "Democratic Party lawmakers who were critical of the candidate were purged by the 'bi-myung-hwang-sa' nomination."
He remarked, "The 'Gaetdall' (the candidate's hardcore supporters) 'watermelon hunting' is trampling on democracy like the specter of the Red Guards."
