Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Choi Sang-mok recently evaluated the '2+2 trade consultation' held in Washington, D.C., stating, "We clarified the consultation agenda and built a consensus on the discussion schedule, laying the groundwork for future consultations."
On the evening of the 27th, Deputy Prime Minister Choi emphasized during a meeting with reporters upon returning through Incheon International Airport, "We have reduced uncertainty and opened the way for orderly consultations in the future."
He also added, "I have sufficiently explained considerations such as the political schedule in Korea and the need for cooperation with the National Assembly."
Regarding discussions on the exchange rate issue, he stated, "There is a direct and ongoing communication channel between the financial authorities regarding exchange rate policy," and noted, "I think there will be even more constructive discussions."
Meanwhile, regarding the possibility of acting President Han Duck-soo running for the presidency, which has been raised in recent political discussions, he remarked, "It is not something I should comment on based on assumptions," and added, "I will only carry out my duties as prescribed by the Constitution and laws."
