Candidate Lee Jun-seok of the Reform Party said on the 27th, "It is important to have Sejong Station installed at a location adjacent to the center of Sejong City for the completion of Sejong City."
The candidate noted on the same day on Facebook, "Travel time between Seoul-Sejong and Suseo-Sejong should be reduced to within 1 hour (including the time to travel to the city center after disembarking) to activate the linkage between the economic center and the administrative center."
Regarding the establishment of KTX Sejong Station, the Osong Station and Gongju Station have been in a state of decline, and Chungbuk and Chungnam have strongly opposed it for several years.
The candidate stated, "There have been disagreements among local governments regarding the installation of Sejong Station to revitalize Gongju Station, but I believe the positive effects on the Gongju area from the completion of Sejong City will be greater."
He added, "Also, Osong Station will continue to serve as a gateway for access to Sejong from Yeongnam as a junction station for the Gyeongbu-Honam high-speed railway."
After attending the regular general meeting of the Daejeon Medical Association on the same day, he told reporters, "The success of Sejong City is a very important point in terms of balanced regional development in South Korea and keeping the dream of President Roh Moo-hyun and the conviction of President Park Geun-hye."
He also stated, "We will make the National Assembly building and the presidential office being built in Sejong a complex (integrated space) within one area."
Regarding the big tent theory regarding Acting Prime Minister Han Duck-soo raised within and outside the People Power Party, he emphasized, "We will focus on political reform in the future, and we will not change our intentions for political engineering along with the members of the Reform Party."
