On the 24th, Acting President Han Duck-soo sent a condolence message to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the terrorist attack that occurred in the Pahalgam area of Jammu and Kashmir.

In the condolence message, Han noted, "I pray for the souls of those who lost their lives in this incident," adding that he expresses heartfelt condolences and sympathy on behalf of the government and people of South Korea to the bereaved families and the people of India, who must be in great shock and grief.

He stated, "I cannot help but feel shock and sorrow at the news that many innocent lives have been lost due to the terrorism," and added, "Terrorism is an anti-civilization, inhumane crime that cannot be justified under any circumstances and must be eradicated."

He continued, "I pay tribute to the determination and efforts of the Prime Minister to restore justice and maintain peace and stability in the face of this terrorist attack," and stated, "Our government will firmly work in solidarity with the Indian government and its people in these efforts."

Han added, "I hope the people of India can overcome the sorrow caused by this terrorism as soon as possible."

On the 22nd, a shooting attack occurred near the resort area of Pahalgam in Indian-administered Kashmir, resulting in 26 deaths and 17 injuries. The Indian government has identified Pakistan, which is embroiled in a territorial dispute over Kashmir, as being behind the attack.
