Acting Prime Minister Han Duck-soo said on the 24th, "The government and local governments must work together to reduce the burden of housing costs for young people, just like the Cheonwon housing project."

Acting Prime Minister Han visited Cheonwon housing in Michuhol-gu, Incheon, on the same day and said, "Concentrate the government's capabilities with the determination to bring an end to securing housing stability for young people and newlyweds."

Cheonwon housing is a rental and lease housing project that allows residents to live for 1,000 won per day and 30,000 won per month, implemented by the city of Incheon. Incheon city first announced the recruitment of residents for purchased rental housing last March, attracting 3,681 applications for 500 units.

Acting Prime Minister Han visited the site to check the progress of the Cheonwon housing project to lower the high burden of housing costs.

He noted, "The low birth rate issue is a national challenge that must be prioritized for the future of our country and the younger generation," adding, "Housing stability for young people is crucial for changing the perception of marriage and childbirth among the youth."

He continued, "Housing is the most fundamental element of our lives," adding, "Stability in housing is the best form of welfare."

The government plans to supply more than 120,000 dwellings for families giving birth through private sales, public sales, and public rentals. Furthermore, it intends to actively supply youth-specialized dwellings in locations preferred by the market, such as near transportation hubs.
