Former President Moon Jae-in said on the 24th that the prosecution's indictment of him on bribery charges is "absurd and ridiculous." Yun Geon-young, a close aide to former President Moon, conveyed this position during a National Assembly press conference in the afternoon.
According to Representative Yun, former President Moon stated, "I cannot help but say that this is a retaliatory indictment against a president before a verdict and impeachment," adding, "I will reveal not only the truth in court but also how absurdly the prosecution's powers are being abused." He also said, "I will consider this an opportunity to file criminal complaints against illegal acts by the prosecution, including abuse of investigative authority, and to reform the prosecution."
The Democratic Party's Committee on Countermeasures against Political Suppression of the Previous Administration also issued a statement saying, "The indictment against former President Moon is the last gasp of the political prosecution guarding former President Yoon Suk-yeol, using Moon as a sacrifice," and noted, "From its inception as political suppression to the conclusion of the indictment, the prosecution has had no interest other than political suppression."
Earlier, the prosecution, which has been investigating the allegations of preferential hiring of former President Moon's ex-son-in-law, Seo Mo, at Thai Sky Jet, indicted former President Moon this morning for violations of the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes.
