Han Duck-soo, the acting President and Prime Minister, visited Camp Humphreys on the 23rd to discuss security issues with General Javier Brunson, the commander of the Korea-U.S. Combined Forces.
Acting Prime Minister Han emphasized the importance of the Korea-U.S. alliance and a robust combined readiness posture during his visit to Camp Humphreys in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province, on the morning of that day. He also urged that efforts be made to ensure the continued development of this relationship.
Afterward, Acting Prime Minister Han visited the U.S. 2nd Aviation Brigade helicopter hangar and expressed gratitude to the soldiers who participated in the wildfire suppression efforts that occurred last March.
Acting Prime Minister Han said, “I am the Republic of Korea reserve army private first class, service number 12168724,” adding, “Seeing the dignified presence of the passionate and spirited soldiers gives me even greater comfort and encouragement.” He named six soldiers involved in the operation, stating, “I sincerely thank you on behalf of the people.”
He continued, “Camp Humphreys symbolizes the Korea-U.S. alliance and a solid combined defense posture, and I hope that Korean and U.S. soldiers remain united as they are now,” adding, “I have infinite trust in you all and will continue to support you.”
