Deputy Minister Bang Gi-seon said on the 23rd, "There must not be any incidents that undermine political neutrality in the public sector by riding on the atmosphere of the election."
During the 5th meeting of heads of external agencies held at the Government Sejong Center, Deputy Minister Bang noted, "With just over 40 days until the election to pick a new president, a higher level of accountability and strict neutrality is required from the public sector than ever before."
Deputy Minister Bang stated, "It must never happen that we fail to do what we must and undermine trust in the government by being complacent," adding, "As this is a by-election due to the president's vacancy, the preparation period is short, and public interest in a fair election is high."
He further urged, "Administrators, please provide clear education on the obligation of political neutrality so that your staff can act steadfastly in accordance with laws and principles." He also said, "Please take strict measures in case of violations."
He said to the Overseas Korean Foundation, the Korean National Police Agency, and the Military Manpower Administration, which are closely related to election affairs, "Please fulfill your responsibilities and roles in cooperation with related agencies such as the Election Commission, managing the field, and responding to civil complaints."
Deputy Minister Bang emphasized the continuity and stability of state affairs. He said, "Regardless of the political schedule, all administrative matters must operate steadily," adding, "Areas directly connected to the lives of the people must be promoted with even greater focus."
He also said, "Once the supplementary budget plan passes through the currency, please ensure that the public can quickly experience its effects in preparation and execution." He added, "I hope you devise measures to minimize public inconvenience during the execution process."
Deputy Minister Bang stated, "Regulatory reforms that can reduce burdens on the public and corporations without spending budget are the most practical and effective measures for people's livelihood that the government can mobilize immediately." He urged, "Please boldly improve rigid procedures and unnecessary standards and have the external agencies take the lead in implementing substantial measures."
Deputy Minister Bang noted, "In the situation where public anxiety and concerns have increased due to large-scale wildfires, factory site collapses, sinkhole accidents, and fires in multi-family housing, I hope to solidify inter-governmental cooperation during the transition period and fulfill the two tasks of political neutrality and normal state affairs."
