On the 23rd, the People Power Party criticized Democratic Party of Korea lawmaker Choo Mi-ae for calling the People Power Party's presidential primary a 'cockroach banquet,' saying it was 'vulgar' and advised that she should worry about the Democratic Party's 'communization.'
On the 23rd, People Power Party Spokesperson Ham In-kyung criticized Choo for mocking another party's presidential primary with the 'cockroach banquet' remark, noting that she made shameful personal attacks towards the candidates participating in the primary.
On that morning, Choo wrote on her Facebook regarding the People Power Party's presidential primary, 'The owners of the country are the people, yet they are holding a competition to prop up Yoon Suk-yeol, a shameless cockroach contest.'
Spokesperson Ham stated, 'The level is truly lamentable. What remains at the tip of a politician’s tongue who has given up self-restraint is ultimately nothing but 'poison.' He added, 'If a politician claims to serve the will of the people, they should at least have a minimum level of dignity and sense of responsibility.' He continued, 'If they call the presidential primary process that the public is watching a 'cockroach banquet,' that statement ultimately becomes an insult to the people.'
Spokesperson Ham remarked, 'If one tries to maintain their presence through the easiest methods of personal attacks and wordplay, they are not a politician but a 'mockingbird.' Is it acceptable for someone who previously served as the leader of the Democratic Party to be this trivial?' He added, 'Worry about the state of the Democratic Party. The greater concern is that it is falling into a 'monolithic system,' 'dictatorial power,' and 'communization.' It's regrettable to see someone who stood at the forefront of 'Lee Jae-myung's bulletproof' now turning another party's primary into a stage for mockery. The dignity of politics is reflected in one's attitude towards the people. I hope that Choo reflects upon this even at this point.'
