Kim said in a statement released immediately after the announcement of the cutoff results, “We are candidates united by a common mission to defend the values of a free Republic of Korea and a market economy.”

Kim expressed his sincere gratitude to the citizens for choosing him as one of the top four candidates for the presidential nomination, saying, “I would also like to send my congratulations to fellow candidates Ahn Cheol-soo, Han Dong-hoon, and Hong Joon-pyo who passed the first cutoff.”

He also conveyed his “deep gratitude and words of comfort” to the candidates who participated in the primary but did not advance: Na Kyung-won, Yang Hyang-ja, Yoo Jeong-bok, and Lee Cheol-woo, adding, “I will cherish the commitment to the nation and the people you have shown and the excellent policies you have demonstrated.”
