In the regional primary to select the presidential candidate for the Democratic Party of Korea, Lee Jae-myung achieved a commanding victory with a vote share of 90.81%. Kim Kyeong-soo placed second in the Yeongnam region, while Kim Dong-yeon came in third. Lee has maintained an overwhelming first place in the cumulative regional primaries so far with 89.56%.

On the afternoon of the 20th, Lee Jae-myung secured first place in the Yeongnam regional primary held at the Ulsan Exhibition and Convention Center, obtaining 66,526 votes out of 73,255 cast (90.81%). Kim Kyeong-soo received 4,341 votes (5.93%), and Kim Dong-yeon earned 2,388 votes (3.26%).

The Democratic Party of Korea concluded its regional primaries in the Chungcheong and Yeongnam regions on this day. The current cumulative vote totals show Lee Jae-myung with 123,583 votes (89.56%) out of 127,985 total votes, Kim Kyeong-soo with 7,131 votes (5.17%), and Kim Dong-yeon with 7,271 votes (5.27%). Voter turnout for the regional primaries was recorded at 64.11%, with 137,985 participating out of 215,215 eligible voters.

Lee Jae-myung noted, "This likely means that party members have high expectations of me, and I feel a great sense of responsibility. I think we can't jump to conclusions about the results, as there are still opinions from the public regarding the Democratic Party (public election voters) waiting to be heard. I will do my best in the primaries."

Kim Kyeong-soo, in second place, mentioned his 14.66% vote share in the nationwide delegate vote of the Yeongnam primary, saying, "The goal of this primary is for everyone to win, and only then can an overwhelming regime change be possible. I believe support from party members and delegates in Yeongnam is just the beginning."

In third place, Kim Dong-yeon emphasized, "I will accept this with a very happy heart and do my best to endure in the remaining primaries. I will strive to win the hearts of party members in the upcoming Honam and Seoul metropolitan area primaries, and I will do my utmost to achieve good results in public opinion polls as well."
