On the 18th, the Democratic Party of Korea established a 'trade security task force (TF)' to address issues related to tariff policies under the Trump administration and appointed former party representative's special adviser on foreign affairs and security, Kim Hyun-jong, who is considered the 'diplomatic strategist' for presidential candidate Lee Jae-myung, as Director General of the task force.

Democratic Party of Korea Spokesperson Kim Sung-hoe met with reporters after a Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly that day and conveyed this information.

Former adviser Kim led the negotiations for the Korea-U.S. Free Trade Agreement (FTA) as the head of the trade negotiations office during the Roh Moo-hyun administration. He has been evaluated as closely interacting with the Trump administration during his tenure as head of the trade negotiations office and Deputy Director of the National Security Office under the Moon Jae-in administration.

Meanwhile, the Democratic Party of Korea decided to hold another TV debate next week in addition to two scheduled TV debates for the presidential primary candidates in the afternoon and on the 25th.
