The Democratic Party of Korea candidate Lee Jae-myung is maintaining a lead outside the margin of error in a preference poll for future political leaders, with the results released on the 18th.
Gallup Korea announced the results of a survey conducted from the 15th to the 17th of 1,000 eligible voters aged 18 and over (with a 95% confidence level and a margin of error of ±3.1 percentage points) on this day.
According to the survey, Democratic Party candidate Lee Jae-myung received 38%, while People Power Party candidates Hong Joon-pyo and Kim Moon-soo, along with Acting Prime Minister Han Duck-soo, each received 7%. Following them were People Power Party candidate Han Dong-hoon at 6%, and Reform Party preliminary candidate Lee Jun-seok at 2%. 26% did not specify a preference.
Gallup noted, “Lee Jae-myung's preference rating has been in the low 20s from January to July 2024, in the mid to high 20s from September to early December, and has exceeded 30% from mid-December to the present,” adding that “this week’s 38% is the highest.”
Among Democratic Party supporters, candidate Lee's approval rating reached 82%. Among People Power Party supporters, Hong received 20%, Acting Prime Minister Han got 20%, Kim received 18%, and Han got 16%.
Party approval ratings were 42% for the Democratic Party, 34% for the People Power Party, 3% for the Rebuilding Korea Party, and 2% for the Reform Party. The proportion of undecided voters was recorded at 18%. The Democratic Party rose by 1 percentage point compared to the last survey, while the People Power Party increased by 4 percentage points.
This survey was conducted using random samples of wireless telephone virtual numbers and through interviews conducted by survey agents. The contact rate was 41.7%, and the response rate was 14.8%. Detailed information can be found on the Central Election Survey Deliberation Commission's website.
