The People Power Party announced on the 16th that it has confirmed a total of eight candidates for the 1st primary of the 21st presidential election.

The party's election management committee said that after finishing a meeting at the National Assembly that morning, the 1st primary candidates are Kim Moon-soo, former Minister of Employment and Labor, Na Kyung-won, Ahn Cheol-soo, former lawmaker Yang Hyang-ja, Incheon Mayor Yoo Jeong-bok, Gyeongsangbuk-do Governor Lee Cheol-woo, former People Power Party leader Han Dong-hoon, and former Daegu Mayor Hong Joon-pyo.

Election Commission Chairman Hwang Woo-yeo noted, "We carefully reviewed whether the candidates possess the qualities that meet the expectations of the people by assessing their competitiveness and suitability."

As the first candidates are selected, the 6.3 early presidential primary race is expected to intensify.

The People Power Party will hold a media day on the 17th, followed by a candidate vision competition on the 18th. On the 19th and 20th, discussions will be conducted in groups A and B with four candidates each. Finally, on the 21st and 22nd, a 100% public opinion poll will be conducted to summarize and announce the four primary candidates on the evening of the 22nd.
