Na Kyung-won, a member of the People Power Party, is holding a press conference on November 15 afternoon in front of the main gate of Seoul National University, along with the campus conservative group 'Seoul National University True Forum', urging the closure of the Xi Jinping materials room in the Seoul National University library.

Na Kyung-won, a member of the People Power Party who declared her candidacy for the presidential election, visited the Central Library of Seoul National University, demanding the closure of a resource room dedicated to Chinese President Xi Jinping. This is seen as a strategy to rally support from the conservative base with 'anti-China' movements a day before the first primary of the People Power Party.

On the afternoon of the 15th, Representative Na held a press conference with a conservative group called 'Seoul National University Truth Forum' in front of the main gate of Seoul National University and said, "There are no memorial spaces or resource rooms for our country’s past presidents, including Lee Seung-man and Park Chung-hee, who led the founding and industrialization of the Republic of Korea, at Seoul National University, which is a representative national university of Korea."

She pointed out, "Nevertheless, many students and citizens express serious concerns and deep questions about the fact that a resource room dedicated to Xi Jinping, the top leader of the Chinese Communist Party, is installed and operated in the Central Library, the heart of the university."

"This raises fundamental questions about the identity and historical balance of Seoul National University, beyond simply the appropriateness of honoring a specific foreign political leader. Although a university should guarantee academic freedom and freedom of thought, operating a space for the current leader of a country with a system different from the values of liberal democracy without even having a memorial space for its own president is hardly consistent with the sentiments of the public," she asserted.

It is analyzed that Representative Na is working to consolidate the conservative base ahead of the first primary of the People Power Party scheduled for the 16th. The People Power Party is expected to announce four candidates moving on to the first primary after closing registration on the 15th and conducting a document review.

The first primary of the People Power Party will be conducted based on 100% reflection of public opinion surveys. While it is known that Kim Moon-soo, former Minister of Employment and Labor, has the highest approval rating among the supporters of the People Power Party, candidates who are ranked lower could still hope for a turnaround if public opinion surveys are taken into account.

Meanwhile, shortly after the press conference, Representative Na met with reporters and commented on the rumors of former Representative Yoo's candidacy as an independent or from a third party, saying, "It would be a shame if he does not participate in the People Power Party primary. Many people are concerned about the election of candidate Lee Jae-myung, and I hope we can share the same intention regarding this issue."
