Han Dong-hoon, former representative of the People Power Party, criticized the ongoing 'elevation' of Acting Prime Minister Han Duck-soo within the party on the 14th, calling it 'an act in question.'
Former Representative Han appeared on SBS Radio's 'Kim Tae-hyun's Political Show' that morning and said, 'Recently, the vested interests within the party are not casually saying that they will 'somehow unify' with the Prime Minister, but are instead intentionally releasing statements to the media, seriously and strongly staking their lives on it.'
He noted, 'In the case of Lee Jae-myung, former representative of the Democratic Party, there is no emotion or drama in the process of deciding on a candidate alone under a unipolar system,' adding, 'Our party will allow a fierce debate with diverse thoughts during the primary, where positions will be clarified, reflections will occur, and the future will be shown.'
He continued, 'We need to focus the public's attention during the process of selecting our party's candidate, yet discussions about our party's primary are being pushed to second place in all news.' He said, 'This situation is a very important time for the People Power Party, and the act of deflating the primary itself is an act in question.'
Former Representative Han stated, 'The problem of those holding vested interests in our party is serious. This is a defeatism that implies we cannot win.' He added, 'It doesn't desire victory but rather aims for the prolongation of vested interests.'
When asked, 'Are the lawmakers who claim to bring in Han as an independent candidate and then unify with the People Power Party's candidate more focused on vested interests than on winning the presidential election?' former Representative Han replied, 'That’s correct.' He then added, 'However, that is an illusion; losing in the presidential election means there will be no prolongation.'
He further remarked about Han, 'Personally, I really like the Prime Minister. However, he is not the type to choose a cunning way to unify later with the People Power Party's candidate after having had the opportunity to participate in this primary and then not showing up.'
