Former Prime Minister Hwang said on the 8th, "I plan to leave the People Power Party and declare my candidacy for the presidential election tomorrow."

Hwang said, "To protect a free Republic of Korea, we must eliminate election fraud, and only then can we win the fight against anti-state forces." He added, "However, it is heartbreaking that President Yoon Suk-yeol, who started this fight, has been impeached. In order to complete the elimination of election fraud and anti-state forces, which were hindered by the massive election fraud forces, I have decided to run in this presidential election."

He explained that the reason for leaving the party despite being a former party leader is, "Because we cannot win with the People Power Party" and stated, "Now, I will take a new path, the path to victory."
