Former President Yoon Suk-yeol said to his supporters on the 6th, “I may have stepped down from the presidency, but I will always be by your side.”
On the same day, former President Yoon, through his legal team, delivered a message urging supporters, “Even if today’s reality is difficult, do not despair.”
Former President Yoon stated, “I remember your first cheer that filled Cheonggye Plaza on the evening of February 13. Although my body was in a detention center, my heart was with you,” adding, “I saw you all fighting with the determination to safeguard freedom and sovereignty across the nation, from Seoul, Busan, Daegu, Gwangju, to Daejeon. I also heard the shouts of young students in the streets and correctional facilities.”
He continued, “To those who endured hardship and continued fasting, and to those who showed their strong will through shaving their heads, I was moved to tears by each and every one of your passionate love for the country. I deeply thank you for your support and encouragement. I also feel sorry and saddened.”
Former President Yoon also stated, “The journey of all of you who fought to safeguard freedom and sovereignty upon realizing the nation’s grave crisis will be recorded as a great history of the Republic of Korea.”
Regarding young supporters, he said, “You are the protagonists of this country and its future,” and urged, “Have confidence and courage. As long as you young people do not lose your courage, our future will be bright.”
This message is the second one released by former President Yoon since his impeachment. On the 4th, after the Constitutional Court's decision to uphold the impeachment, he stated, “It was an honor to be able to work for the Republic of Korea,” expressing, “I deeply thank those of you who supported and encouraged me. I feel regret and apologies for not living up to expectations.” However, there was no clear mention of the Constitutional Court’s decision in the second message either.
