Former Democratic Party of Korea lawmaker Park Yong-jin said on the 6th, "I will dedicate myself to finding my role for regime change," announcing that he will not run in the 21st presidential election following the impeachment of former President Yoon Suk-yeol. Park is a prominent figure in the non-Lee Jae-myung faction.
On that day, Park stated on his Facebook, "I will not run in this presidential election," adding, "After listening to many people's advice and reflecting multiple times, I will dedicate myself to finding my role for the victory of the people and regime change as an ordinary party member, not as a candidate in the primary."
He added, "The victory of the Democratic Party that must be achieved in the early presidential election should not be a 'small victory,' but rather a 'great victory' for all citizens, and I will lend a clear voice for national unity, social justice, and economic growth."
Park also emphasized the need for party unity and integration. He said, "The only thing I fear is that we fail to unite the hearts of the dispersed people and party members, allowing the forces advocating for civil strife to find a foothold. It is time for everyone to come together to prevent that from happening. I will continue to play my role for party unity and integration."
He added, "I send cheers and applause to the precious leaders of the Democratic Party who will step forward and declare their candidacy for the party and the people."
