The People Power Party noted on the 6th that in response to National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-sik's proposal to hold a constitutional referendum simultaneously with the early presidential election date, 'the Democratic Party of Korea leader Lee Jae-myung should answer directly.'

Spokesperson Park Min-young released a statement that afternoon, saying, 'This state of emergency clearly reveals the contradiction of the 1987 system that holds that 'the country must fail for the opposition to take power,' and added, 'Since the Constitutional Court also stated through the opinions of all eight justices, 'We understand the difficulties faced by the president and respect political judgment,' a major constitutional amendment is urgently needed to overcome the extreme situation of a minority opposition.'

Spokesperson Park added, 'However, constitutional amendments have always been obstructed by powerful politicians seeking to monopolize power,' stating, 'The criticism directed at Speaker Woo Won-sik from within the pro-Lee (pro-Lee Jae-myung) faction, who believe they are likely to take power, is also part of this.'

Park further stated, 'Everything depends on the hands of Lee Jae-myung, who leads the powerful opposition with 192 seats,' and noted, 'Whether the early presidential election will become an opportunity for a new Republic of Korea or will repeat past failures and mark the beginning of another downfall entirely depends on Lee's mindset.'

He then remarked, 'Now that President Yoon Suk-yeol has resigned, the eyes of the public judging the political circle are directed toward the Democratic Party and leader Lee Jae-myung,' adding, 'How will they be held accountable for legislative malpractices, including a historically unprecedented 30 impeachment attempts and unilateral budget cuts, which even the Constitutional Court criticized as 'excessive'?'

Spokesperson Park stated, 'Lee Jae-myung must answer the people's questions directly.' He continued, 'The history of democracy has evolved and transformed endlessly under the great consensus of popular sovereignty, using the past as a lesson,' and warned, 'If we hastily cling to vested interests, refusing to change in the choice presented before us, we will inevitably be judged by history in the near future.'

Earlier, Speaker Woo held a special dialogue on constitutional amendments at the National Assembly's Sarangjae and stated, 'I propose to conduct a constitutional referendum simultaneously with the presidential election date.' Speaker Woo mentioned, 'There was a consensus among the leadership of both parties on the discussion of constitutional reforms,' and added, 'It has been confirmed that there is a very wide consensus among political parties regarding the four-year term system.'
