Prime Minister Han Duck-soo, acting in place of the president, directed on the 3rd, "Establish emergency support measures for industries and corporations affected by the U.S. government's tariff imposition on automobiles and other sectors without delay at a government-wide level."

Acting Prime Minister Han held an emergency economic security strategy task force (TF) meeting at the government Seoul building in Jongno-gu, Seoul, at 7 a.m. that day, stating, "Given that a global tariff war is becoming a reality, we must pour all available government capabilities into overcoming the trade crisis."

Acting Prime Minister Han asked Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Ahn Duk-geun, "Analyze in detail the contents and impacts of the mutual tariffs announced today in conjunction with the corporations, and since full-scale negotiations are about to commence, actively engage in negotiations with the U.S. to minimize damages."

Immediately after the TF meeting, the government will hold a 'macro-economic financial issues meeting' chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Choi Sang-mok to check the impacts of the U.S. tariff measures on the financial and foreign exchange markets.

At 11:30 a.m., a 'joint public-private meeting on U.S. tariff measures' will be held under the chairmanship of Minister Ahn Duk-geun to discuss joint response strategies with the industry, including outreach to the U.S.

A government official explained, "In the afternoon, a '3rd economic security strategy TF' meeting will be held under the chairmanship of Acting Prime Minister Han, involving key corporations and the public and private sectors to discuss countermeasures in depth."
