Oh Se-hoon, the mayor of Seoul, emphasized that the unpublicized opinion poll results from political broker Myung Tae-kyun were not conveyed to the Oh Se-hoon campaign during the 2021 Seoul mayoral by-election.
Lee Jong-hyun, Seoul's civil communication adviser, mentioned in a statement regarding the prosecutor's investigation related to Myung Tae-kyun distributed on the 21st that Myung conveyed the opinion poll results to Yang Sangsuk, head of the Yeouido Research Institute, and also to Kim Jong-in, chairperson of the emergency response committee, referencing reports from News Tap and Hankyoreh, asserting that 'this report substantiates that Myung Tae-kyun's unpublicized opinion poll was not transmitted to the Oh Se-hoon campaign.'
The adviser asserted, 'If the reports are true, it means that separate matters occurred that the Oh Se-hoon camp was unaware of.'
He explained, 'During the by-election for the mayor of Seoul, the necessity for unification was actively raised both inside and outside the party, but Kim Jong-in, chairperson of the emergency response committee, opposed it,' adding, 'Once Oh Se-hoon decided to unify, he had to seek understanding from the chairperson.'
The adviser mentioned, 'Therefore, the Oh Se-hoon campaign emphasized that they neither wanted nor received the unpublicized opinion poll results and urged to clarify when and to whom it was given,' expressing hope that the prosecutor's investigation would proceed swiftly to unveil the clear facts.
He stressed, 'There should be no more reports of fake news or dissemination of false facts related to Myung Tae-kyun.'
