SK Telecom is under a special tax investigation by the National Tax Service over allegations that it funneled fake projects to SK C&C.
According to the tax industry on the 20th, the Seoul Regional Tax Service's Investigation Division 4 is currently conducting a special tax investigation targeting SK Telecom.
The National Tax Service revealed that SK Telecom issued orders worth over 500 billion won to SK C&C between 2014 and 2015, and some of these were reported to be considered fabricated services amounting to hundreds of millions won.
Tax authorities are said to be checking each contract, considering the possibility that some invoices issued by SK C&C for the projects were inflated.
A representative of SK Telecom said, "There is no fact that we ordered fabricated services to SK C&C," and noted, "We will faithfully clarify during the ongoing tax investigation by the National Tax Service."
