The ruling and opposition parties agreed to hold a plenary meeting next week during the practical discussions of the National Policy Council. The plenary meeting will include National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-sik, Acting President and Minister of Strategy and Finance Choi Sang-mok, Emergency Response Committee Chairperson Kwon Young-se, and Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung. At the National Policy Council, legislation related to the supplementary budget and the special law on semiconductors is expected to be discussed.
Chairperson of the Policy Committee of the People Power Party Kim Sang-hoon and Chairperson of the Policy Committee of the Democratic Party of Korea Jin Sung-jun held a practical meeting of the 'National Assembly-Government (Ruling and Opposition) National Policy Council' at the National Assembly on the morning of the 4th. Bang Gi-seon, Director of the Office for Government Policy Coordination, and Cho O-seop, Chief of Staff to the National Assembly Speaker, were also present.
Earlier, the chairpersons of the policy committees of the ruling and opposition parties had conducted a practical meeting for the National Policy Council on the 22nd of last month, before the Seollal holiday, but the talks fell apart. After about two weeks since the failure of the discussions between the two parties' policy committee chairpersons, they agreed to hold the plenary meeting. However, it seems that they did not reach a conclusion on how to handle the supplementary budget and the special law on semiconductors.
Chairperson of the Policy Committee of the People Power Party Kim Sang-hoon said, 'Regarding the results of today's (4th) practical meeting, I decided not to provide any specific details separately,' and noted, 'The discussed agenda will be derived through holding the National Policy Council on the 10th or 11th.'
Chairperson of the Policy Committee of the Democratic Party of Korea Jin Sung-jun stated, 'We decided to hold a National Policy Council plenary meeting, meaning that the acting President Choi Sang-mok, National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-sik, Party leader Lee Jae-myung, and Chairperson Kwon Young-se will participate.' He added, 'The specific schedule will be coordinated, and it will be a forum to discuss various current issues related to the nation's affairs without reservation.'
