The Korea Expressway Corporation's Gangwon Headquarters urged on the 26th for travelers to return home early and to thoroughly prepare winter equipment as heavy snowfall is forecasted in the Gangwon region from the 27th to the 28th.

According to the expressway corporation, snow accumulation of 10 to 20 centimeters is expected in the inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon, with some regions forecasting up to 30 centimeters. Therefore, preparations for traffic congestion and safe driving are necessary.

A representative from the expressway corporation noted, "Significant congestion is expected on the expressways during the Lunar New Year holiday, so travelers are encouraged to depart earlier than usual," and emphasized, "In snowy conditions, it is essential to reduce speed by 20 to 50% of the speed limit and to maintain a minimum distance of twice the normal following distance."

He added, "Please ensure that winter equipment such as snow chains is prepared before traveling."
