NHN Cloud announced on the 29th that it has been selected as the top contractor for the 'AI Computing Resource Utilization Strengthening (GPU acquisition, construction, and operational support) project', which is being promoted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA).
In this project, NHN Cloud will utilize 1 trillion won out of the total budget of 1.46 trillion won to secure a total of 7,656 graphics processing units (GPUs), achieving the largest volume among three participating corporations. All of the GPUs are the latest model B200, accounting for approximately 75% of the total GPU quantity secured.
As the lead contractor, NHN Cloud plans to build an integrated portal for GPU infrastructure that can be jointly used by the three companies. In particular, it will introduce a water-cooling cooling method that can effectively control the heat generated by high-performance GPUs and will adopt a method of operating more than 4,000 units in a single cluster for the first time in Korea.
The data center is designed based on global standards, providing a stable infrastructure with a high-density power environment of 75 kW per rack, and is expected to launch beta services on January 1. Official services are expected to open in mid-March.
