Following the repeal of the Mobile Device Distribution Structure Improvement Act (also known as the Device Subsidy Act), a total of 95,233 cases of mobile carrier changes were recorded from the 22nd to the 26th.
On the 22nd, 35,131 cases occurred, marking a sharp increase, and afterward, the average dropped to about 13,000 cases per day. The number of changes on the 22nd, the first day after the repeal of the Device Subsidy Act, was more than three times higher than the 10,703 cases on the 21st, the day before the repeal.
Despite continued subscriber loss at SK Telecom, the response to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7, released on the 25th and 26th, was relatively lukewarm.
Over the past five days, 40,661 subscribers moved from SK Telecom to KT and LG Uplus, while the net loss was 322 subscribers. KT and LG Uplus saw net increases of 522 and 70 subscribers, respectively. Industry insiders expect that the scale of movement will increase as the competition for subsidies intensifies.
